The White County Jail is proud to provide a safe and secure environment for our community to house offenders.

The White County Jail is responsible for the short and long term care and custody of non-sentenced and sentenced inmates and inmates sentenced to work release or other periodic imprisonment.

Corrections Officers are fully trained and certified by the State of Illinois to identify potential safety, medical, or mental health risks while performing job duties with the highest professional standard.

The White County Jail is located at 108 N. Main Cross St. in Carmi Illinois.

The White County Jail is a PREA compliant facility.

The Jail operates under a zero tolerance policy for sexual assault and sexual abuse.
Party Reporting
To report sexual assault or sexual abuse of an inmate currently housed at the White County Jail, please call the jail at 618-382-7149. Then asked to be transferred to the Jail Administrators voice mail. From here you will be able to make your report anonymously if you wish, and the report will be investigated within 24 hours.

Mission Statement
The purpose of the White County Jail is to provide humane, safe, legally compliant, secure, and sanitary detention and incarceration of properly supervised pretrial and post-trial inmates while being cost effective and professional for the safety of the citizens of White County.

The staff and management of the White County Jail are committed to the preservation of the basic human rights and dignity of the inmate population as prescribed by the Constitution of the United States and the Laws of the State of Illinois.
